
This course has been designed
to provide first aid training for staff caring
for children and babies in the absence of their
parents /guardians. This is an OFSTED recognised
course and the certificate must be renewed
every three years. We advise that all staff
should refresh their paediatric basic life
support skills at least every year

Course Content
- Planning for first aid emergencies involving
children and babies
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, infant and
child
- Recovery position
- Treatment of bleeding and shock
- Burns and scalds – Electric shock
- Choking
- Recognition & treatment of medical
conditions i.e. anaphylaxis
- Serious sudden illness
- Bites and stings
- Fractures, sprains and strains

Assessment
- Final assessment of practical skills by
independent assessors
- Multiple choice question paper
Certification
- A certificate valid for 3 years will be
issued on successful completion of the assessments
