
The purpose of the First Person
on Scene © (FPOS) awards is to provide
immediate life support to the patient pending
the arrival of definitive Pre-Hospital care.
Effective interventions in the following areas
have shown to make a difference to survival
outcome and are reflected in the FPOS awards
framework.
The course is accredited by
Edexcel and clinical endorsement is through
the Faculty of Pre-Hospital care; The Royal
college of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

- Anyone who wishes to
advance their first Aid and trauma care skills
Course Content
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Defibrillation
- Rhythm recognition
- Use of Suction
- Airway management
- Helmet removal
- Oxygen therapy
- Triage
- Scene management
- Acting safely
Course duration
- Basic (3 hours pre-study;
10 hours contact time; 2 hours assessment)
- Intermediate (3 hours pre-study;
30 hours contact time; 2 hours assessment)
Certification
- The awards will be valid for
a period of three years from the date of
successful completion
- Candidates will be
expected to maintain their skills and knowledge
in accordance with their employing/responding
organisation
